In this sketch, I explore for loops in Houdini. Lately, I've been working mostly in Tough Designer so in this exercise I explore the difference and similarities in the workflow. Following the Motion Designers Community tutorials, I was able to learn about more complicated nodes in Houdini such as loops. I applied an aluminum texture and played with lighting to create this sphere morph shape animation.
Starting with a sphere shape, I isolated each face then I was able to morph each face using poly extrude.
Final render of the geometry using Houdini's built-in render system Mantra. The key was applying a reflective metallic texture such as aluminum. the strategically place lighting to give it this shimmery color.
Example of the network in Houdini.
