In this sketch, I presented a kinetic type piece that is audio-reactive. The concept is about language barriers. The words are Singhalese from Sri Lanka, which is my father's language. When I visited Sri Lanka as an adult there was one thing I could say and that is I don't understand Singhalese.
In this piece, I envoke that memory. In the installation when the room is silent nothing will show on the projection. It is just a black screen. When people begin to talk it registers a certain frequency and the letters appear saying I don't understand then blur and distort as the audience continues to speak.
