Immersive, Interactive, Experience:

The Dialogic and a push Beyond Surface

How do participants engage and go beyond the surface of the creative object?

In contradiction to both David Joselit’s theories of “metaphoric flatness” in Modernist artworks and the loss of this dimension or depthlessness in Postmodernist artworks where the surface is a blank 2D flat space without affect, the presented works in this thesis use immersive, interactive, and creative technologies to design experiential art that explores the idea of pulling the art object beyond flatness.
